Each of your employers should provide you with a W-2 form for your federal tax return. If you do not receive one, you must contact your employer to find out where the form was mailed to. You should receive this form by mid-February, the latest.

If the reason you do not have this form is because you misplaced it, you should still contact your employer and have them replace the lost form. Your employer can charge you a fee for misplacing this form, so be aware that it is possible for that happen.

Information you must have when making this call includes:
-The employers name and complete address
-If available, the employer’s identification number
-your name and address
-an estimate of the wages you earned, the federal income tax withheld, and the dates you began and ended your employment
If you do not receive a W-2 form you are still required to file your taxes on time. If it is not possible for you to get this form by the tax filing deadline, you may use Ford 4852. However, your tax return may be delayed if using this form.

If you receive a corrected W-2 form once you have already filed for your taxes, you must file an amended form.
